Indiana State Parks Tour: Ouabache
2 of 24 in my tour of Indiana’s State Parks
Solo with a sore throat, I needed an escape from days stuck in bed recovering from a flu. I felt called to be outdoors with fresh air and birds. Well enough to move but not well enough safe enough to be with others, packed up my Canon and opened my saved map of Indiana’s state parks. A few taps and the jingle of keys later, and I was on the road to Bluffton, which I could reach just in time for golden hour.
It was 93 degrees F even as the sun set over Kunkel Lake at Ouabache State Park. An Amish family was playing in the water when I arrived. A bonneted daughter in a blue dress walked the dock of paddle boats like the ducklings walking over lily pads in the lake. There was a young couple fishing on the dock down the shore and a family fishing from their camping chairs across the water. An ambiverted 11 year old (or so) in an orange t-shirt hung out by the pier to say 'hi' to me between shots. I don't like to take clear pictures of strangers, so you’ll only see the landscape that surrounded us instead.
I've been challenging myself with just one telephoto lens, and this one clearly has its strengths and weaknesses. However, I think it beautifully captured the softness of yesterday's humid sunset in Ouabache State Park.
